Principles of war and characteristics of asymmetric war between Russia and Ukraine

Abstract
Russia's operational doctrine in the recent war, by designing lightning ground attacks on Ukraine from several axes, following a series of initial attacks with ballistic and cruise missiles, and bombing the military infrastructure of the Ukrainian army and disrupting the command and control of this army, aims to bring down the Ukrainian government. but during the war, due to the lack of strict adherence to the principles of war and lack of attention to the characteristics of asymmetric warfare, it has not been able to achieve a strategic victory until now. The main purpose of this article is to explain how to implement the principles of war and the characteristics of asymmetric war between Russia and Ukraine. The type of research is applied and it is done in an exploratory and descriptive method. The method of data collection is library and questionnaire with 20 experts. According to the findings of the research, the nine principles of war and the seventeen characteristics of asymmetric war have not been well observed by the Russian army during the implementation of operations, and for this reason, the war has become attrition. According to the results of the research, Russia's special operations have been weak in these cases: camouflage, concealment, deception, innovative and new methods, capabilities, surprise, low cost, and finally, these operations have not had successful strategic effectiveness. The ability to move and move, as well as the ability to attack Ukraine's centers of gravity and vital centers, has been evaluated as successful.
