Abstract
As the importance of electro-optical war is not hidden from anyone, increasing the efficiency of far-infrared thermal cameras would indirectly increase the combat and defense capabilities of the armed forces. We also know that far-infrared thermal cameras are sensitive in two spectral ranges of 3-5 and 8-12 micrometers. In fact, they have two main windows and apertures in the infrared transmission spectrum. These systems must be protected against damage caused by intense radiation and erosion and must pass the rays with the mentioned wavelengths, which have low power. In this research, an attempt has been made to eliminate or reduce the disadvantages of using ZnS, which is its high mechanical erosion, in addition to preserving its window properties. In this regard, by depositing Mg on ZnS, its window properties are maintained and improved, also the high mechanical erosion in ZnS disappeared using the corresponding properties in Mg. In this research, the best conditions for making transparent and stable ZnS-Mg sols and the best conditions for making ZnS-Mg thin layers with 7% and 9% contamination have been presented. In fact, the best conditions and process of making ZnS-Mg by the rotating sol-gel method are investigated. Finally, the chemical bond, the microscopic features, morphology, and optical properties of the infrared transmission window used in far infrared thermal cameras have been studied using characterization techniques.
